Unchained

Posted on June 1, 2021June 1, 2022 by xvanderputt

What if the chains that hold me
Are forged by my own hand ?
What if I’m the captive and the captor?
But am yet to understand,
The reason that I seek for you
Is that you, you hold the key
That unlocks the wounds that bind me
And that it’s you who sets me free.
You would, I know embrace me
Pull me in towards your heart
If I did not keep you distant,
Keep your arms nailed wide apart.
This faithless broken earthly shell
Seen only as a tether
How hard I try to cast it off
So at last we are together
But when I’m finished by the fight
When all I am’s undone
this very breath that anchors me
Is the thing that bids you “come”
