By These Wounds

Posted on November 9, 2019November 10, 2019 by xvanderputt

You invite me to reach in and touch
The wound that holds my gaze.
Reach deeper down inside this wound
Where the source of all love lays
Stop only when you feel my heart
Vibrate every chord inside your soul
Let every move you make from here
be a response to what you now hold
Know that you are priceless
That my life was spent for you
Know I will give you all you need
To trust this is all true
Return your frectured weary faith
back into these wounded hands
I know your reluctance, I see your fear
but just know I understand.
Oh Jesus you see into my soul
It is bruised, bloodied and raw
Yet the deepest, deepest part of me
somehow cries out for more
I too bare the mark of a soldiers spear
Where your love has pierced my side
A gateway made into my heart
Where you can now reside
This place is where I meet you most
those places where Im flawed
but united to your sacred wounds
I can breathe, “My God, My Lord”
