God sees that Abram needs some affirmation in the promises He is making to Him. He starts by reminding Abram of his Journey so far to this land. He reminds him “Its me who has brought you from Ur” Could Abram think that he may have achieved this on his own?
I think its worth noting that God isn’t offended at Abrams questions, God knows Abrams heart and what he needs to see and hear in order to feel confident in the delivery of the promise.
It would be easy to see Abrams questions as a lack of faith, its easy to feel that if we question God or ask him for clarity we aren’t asking in faith that we are doubting His goodness. Perhaps God is just happy to hear your voice and like a small child he will give you as much information as you need.
When we look at our journey to get where we are right now, sat here in this room together there have been a mil-lion steps and events that have led us to get here. God has watched everyone of those. Some we have invited him into some we haven’t, but always He is calling us forward, calling us closer and to the path that best leads us to Him.
We are going to spend some time looking at those moments, the significant ones. That doesn’t mean they are earth shattering in what they are but they are moments that set us on a course. When we can see how much he has done then it makes trusting what He will do so much easier for us.
