Lot has made some bad choices, it would be easy for Lot to think that it is just pure bad luck that he has ended up as a prisoner to the waring kings. But if we look at his story, the choices he has made have led him to a place where he was not safe. Some of that is circumstances and influence but Lot doesnt have a strong and faithful heart, he is quick to follow all that glitters.
Although he is now a grown man with a family, he is still loved by his surrogate Father Abram. Abram has watched over him since his brother died and Lot was young. It is a messenger that tells Abram that Lot is in need of rescue.
Would Lot have been humble enough to ask for help? We don’t know but often when we are this deep in trouble, we are looking for ways to save ourselves.
Lot has in essence turned his back on Abram, it may well be that he felt he couldn’t call on him for help or that he didn’t deserve Abram risking anything to help him. Abram is a ‘Type’ of Christ.

Perhaps there are situations now that you are trying to sort yourself rather than submit to God ?
Lets have a look at some areas that hold us captive, and then at the end of the session look at ways to invite God to come and rescue us. To give him the permission to come and bring us home.
