Oh God who takes on our flesh
Unseen but for the work of our hands,
Whose beauty is Invisible to the eye,
yet guides our eyes to see where beauty lies.
Come Holy Spirit, light of grace, purify my vision
Oh God who takes on words
Unheard but for the wisdom that falls unexpected from our lips
Who graces us with an ear to hear that wisdom in others.
Silent but for the prayer that He raises in our hearts
Come Holy Spirit, fullness of understanding, swell a prayer of praise in me.
Oh God, So humble in hiddenness
that I may foolishly think these wonders come from me,
So still and so small yet mighty enough to penetrate
the strongest of fortresses. The hearts of men.
Come Holy Spirit, sanctifier of souls, shatter my defences.
Oh God, who draws us to seek
that same presence alive in others
A conviction that to uncover you in a brother
Is to also discover where it is you dwell in us.
Come Holy Spirit, source of charity, throw open wide our hearts
Oh God, too cryptic for the imagination to grasp
Yet the inspiration that feeds every worthy dream
Too illusive to ever be fully held
too intimately close to ever be lost
Come Holy Spirit, encourager and consoler, Pray in us.
